Our two PhD students, Paulo Bernardino (KULeuven) and Wim Verbruggen (UGent), are travelling to Dahra (Senegal) to collect field data and become acquainted with the Sahel region and its savanna ecosystem. They are accompanied by two MSc students that will help them with their work. The KULeuven team will be collecting data related to the large scale tree/shrub die-off that occurred after the 2014-2015 drought. The UGent team will perform an intensive campaign of photosythetical activity measurements at the Dahra site. All together they will remain on site for approx. two months.
